Melasma Treatment

Melasma often referred to as “pregnancy mask” is a type of skin pigmentation disorder that appears as patchy brown pigmentation on sun exposed area(s) of the body. It can be seen on the cheeks, forehead, upper lip, neck, or forearms. It is caused by over-production of melanin (the pigment responsible for the color of our skin, hair, and eyes). The amount of melanin production is dependent on several factors, such as genetics, sun or heat exposure, stress, inflammation, and hormones. It is more commonly seen in women than men and its first appearance may be during pregnancy which may persist indefinitely afterwards.

Treatment for Melasma

Currently there is no definite cure for melasma but there have been proven treatments shown to improve and control its appearance. The treatment depends on the severity and can range from topical to oral medication, skin care, diet, wearing SPF 30 or greater and the best of them all LASER therapy. The Picosecond Laser device at 1064 provides extremely safe and effective outcomes when included as part of an overall treatment regimen.

Acne Treatment

Acne is a common skin condition that affects nearly over 80% of people at some point in their lives. It can be very challenging to treat and many just give on their journey to glowing skin. While not a permanent cure for acne, the focus on the treatment plan is control + maintain. Control existing acne until glowing skin is achieved and then maintaining that. Everyone is different and so is the treatment plan. The treatment for acne can range from oral to topical medication, diet, exercise, peels, skin care and laser therapy. Using the carbon laser technique, the heat from the laser kills the bacteria responsible for the active acne while shrinking the pores and decreasing sebum production to prevent future outbreaks.

Sun/Age/Liver Spot Removal

Sun spots or “liver or age spots,” medically known as solar lentigines are brown spots that develop with age and sun exposure. They appear more frequently on the hands, face, neck and back, unlike melasma that is more common to women, Sun spots is can be equally in both men and women. Our laser sun spot removal treatment is safe and quite effective. The laser light is focused on the targeted area and is absorbed by the darkened pigments of the spots. This results in skin which will be more uniform in color, texture, and appearance. It usually takes 2-3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart for complete removal, however, larger, and darker spots may require more treatments for optimal results.

Tattoo Removal

Tattoos are designed to be permanent but necessary life choices can be the motivation for wanting a tattoo removal. In the past, tattoo removal procedure was extremely painful and invasive leaving significant scars on the body, but today, we have the Picosecond laser with an inbuilt cooling system to ensure a pain-free tattoo removal procedure. Our laser has the ability to remove all colors, however the number of treatments is determined by the quality and color of the ink. For example, colors such as black, red and dark blue may require less treatment sessions than colors such as green, light blue and yellow.
